1945
Würth foundedAdolf Würth opens a screw wholesale business in Germany.
1973
Würth comes to the UKWürth Screw & Fastener Ltd begins as a one-man operation in Maidstone, Kent. First-year sales: £1,000.
1974
First moveOutgrown within months, the team relocates to Woolwich, London — turnover leaps 320% to £32,000.
1978
Reaching the whole UKA third Woolwich site. In five years the team grows from 1 to 21, serving over 2,500 customers nationwide.
1980s
Erith Head OfficeRenamed Würth UK Ltd, the business opens its purpose-built Erith HQ (1986) and acquires Winzer Würth — adding wood, metal & construction.
1990s
A decade of recordsTurnover hits £9.8m with the first-ever £1m month and 158,000 orders shipped. By 1993: 20 years in the UK, 130 sales consultants, £12m+.
2009
One Würth UKWürth UK and Winzer Würth merge into a single company — one of the UK's largest sales organisations, with 600 staff and 450 in the field.
2010s
Going digitalThe eShop launches in 2016 — £832k and 6,500 online accounts in year one — followed by the Würth App, ORSYscan and ORSYmat.
Today
Built on our valuesProfessor Reinhold Würth's first visit in nearly 15 years (2024) reaffirms our five values. We now proudly serve 60,000+ customers from Erith.
